Our instructor-led, Live Online Math Classes for Homeschoolers are a sequence of 3 yearlong courses focusing on preparing for and mastering the important algebra techniques. There’s a practical focus on the college prep math actually used in science, business, and your other, non-math school courses. The problem sets show learners how to see and analyze the patterns in math, to “get” the big picture, if you will, without getting lost in the obscure equations and weird notation found in other all those other homeschool math programs.
The live math classes start with Pre-Algebra Live, covering the critical middle school math fundamentals that are often part of an 8th grade homeschool math curriculum. Some important recent studies have shown that it’s difficult to get a good science education, get into college, or even graduate high school if there isn’t some exposure to algebra by the 8th grade level.
Algebra 1 Live covers the high school math fundamentals that are often a 9th grade online math curriculum for homeschool, and Algebra 2 Live is the continuation course providing a second year of more advanced high school algebra topics that are often covered in a 10th grade online homeschool math curriculum.

Hi, I’m Dr. Scott, creator of the homeschool math curriculum focusing on Pre Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2.
As a former college science professor, I know exactly how many math learning gaps are out there. I made these live online math courses to fill in all those algebra gaps for homeschoolers planning to go to college.
I created an intuitive course based on spotting obvious patterns in numbers. That’s what math really is, by the way. It’s just a way to see patterns in numbers. We’ll keep it simple by mostly focusing on small, simple numbers so that we can get the big ideas of algebra across as clearly as possible. The course is based on methods of modern neuroscience to teach math to kids in a way that can be learned naturally, by processing patterns.
The pre-algebra topics tie in to classic science units problems, including a technique known as dimensional analysis, which will be explored in the second part of the course. You may have heard that math is used in science… that math, more often than not, would be something called dimensional analysis. You really just cannot do science without it, so it’s the big focus of the whole second half of the course.
Finally, the second half of the course will focus on applying the methods of pre algebra to classic science analysis problems falling under the technique known as dimensional analysis, to provide context to the course.

The algebra 1 homeschool curriculum topics are outlined below. The algebra 1 topics tie in to classic chemistry problems, including using the many equations found in a chemistry, which will be explored in the second part of the course.
The course builds toward solving quadratic equations 3 different ways, each with it’s own strengths and weaknesses. We will learn about solving equations by factoring, finding roots using the quadratic equation, and also using a computer to solve the equation. We will compare and contrast the differences between the methods, and gain some perspective on which method is faster for a given case. Interestingly, we’ll find that the computer or calculator, while useful, usually isn’t the easiest, fastest or even best way to solve an equation. There’s still plenty of room for good old fashioned algebra, written out by hand, in the modern world!
We will also focus on another algebra dilemma. In algebra, a problem doesn’t necessarily have an answer. A problem might have an answer, but it also might not. Then again, a problem, if it’s quadratic, could have even 2 answers. So, there could be 0, 1, or 2 correct answers to a problem. It’s a big deal in algebra not just to get a correct answer, but the correct number of correct answers. We’ll focus on breaking down these different cases to make it easy to tell which is which.
Finally, the second half of the course will focus on applying the methods of algebra 1 to classic chemistry problems, to provide context to the course.
