About This Free Course

Hello! I'm Dr. Scott.
Welcome!
My goal is to show you how to have fun learning science. You’ll get up to speed on the fundamentals quickly, as you learn to relate science to concepts that you already know. You’ll save time and gain confidence at learning science and chemistry. Simple as that.
Course Description
FREE Basic Immersive Chemistry is the best way to get started learning science and basic chemistry.
By the time you finish calming your worry and anxiety about the “hard” physical sciences and chemistry, you could have already learned the fundamentals in this fun, self-paced course. We start at the beginning, with an entertaining history of our planet and 14-billion year old universe as we know it. Then we learn to read a modern periodic table. We’ll finish up learning some theory of acids and bases, and you’ll be able to conduct a laboratory activity in your home. (Or just watch, as you prefer.)
You’ll learn about the chemical elements, where they came from, and how they are arranged on the periodic table. You’ll understand what we know about the structure of atoms, including the “paradox” that these tiny things that make up everything are apparently mostly nothing! You’ll realize that the elements have more than one form… to charge or not to charge… that is the chemist’s question;)
The goal of this course is to create strong foundations in the concepts of chemistry. And to show you that learning chemistry can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience free of anxiety and worry. There are 4 lessons in a series of about 65 videos lasting under ten minutes each. You’ll get the super printer friendly pdf files of all the worksheets and answer keys, so that you don’t need to waste time copying problems. Note that this course is free of any annoying math… so that we can focus on the science! Topics for FREE Basic Immersive Chemistry are listed in the expandable navigation menu, and you can instantly access all these materials by clicking on the blue “Begin” button below or also near the top of this page.
